Stop the Madness, It’s Time!

Darkness

Dark place

There is more light with the light others carry than you carrying it alone. You can’t harm others without affecting yourself.  The whole body suffers if the foot is in pain. A painful foot can keep the whole body immobile.

It’s Time. Get out the darkness! Let your light shine! Don’t bury your head!

  1. This might just be a result of the timing, but this poem made me think of all the police shootings that have been happening lately. I watched both videos of Alton Sterling’s death many times, and the police basically executed him. I don’t see how anyone can argue that the officers’ actions were justified in that case.

I also like the body analogy you used. When a group of people lives together in a society, they basically are one body: each of us relies on one another to keep our systems running smoothly. And in this global age that includes our worldwide society. And there are certain health problems that we might be able to ignore for a time, but that have the potential to destroy us in the end. If history has taught us anything, it’s that there’s always a price to pay for oppression; and more serious injustices carry greater prices. The fall of Rome, the French Revolution, the American Revolution, the rise of the Nazi party: all of these things resulted partially from extreme cases of oppression. I’m not saying the U.S. is going to implode on itself like Rome did, but I don’t understand how anyone can look at this history and still think they’re immune from the effects of injustice.

    1. Thanks Josh, you continue to provide a perspective with depth and is generally insightful. I did have the senseless deaths in mind. My heart is heavy, and my mind have so many thoughts about the latest events and the direction of society. I hope to receive the inspiration to share my perspective without bias as I am released to do so. I believe you have provided the best perspective for such a time as time. Your keen observance shed light on understanding how we are all inter-related and whether we agree or not, we are all in this together.
