Stand Up

It takes courage to stand up

and do what is right

instead of hiding behind cowardliness.

It takes courage to speak up

and say what is right

instead of remaining silent.

It takes courage

to do the right thing

instead of rendering evil

with your own hands.

It takes courage

to act with integrity

instead of acting immoral with malice.

It takes courage

to embrace and respect others differences,

instead of resisting and despising others

because of their differences.

It takes courage

to be different instead of conforming to fit in.

It takes courage to stand alone

instead of standing with others standing for wrong.

It takes courage to be brave,

instead of acting in cowardice ways.

Stand strong,

Be brave,

not cowardice!

Cake or Juice?

Recently, I ran across a scenario question. The question goes like this- I’ll paraphrase, two people need an orange, but there is only one orange available. How should they handle their situation?

Of course the obvious solution seems to give each one a half of the orange. But, not quite.

A better solution is to get an understanding of each other’s need.  The reason-  half of an orange might not meet the need of either.

What if: One person needs the orange to fill her cup of juice, and the other person needs to grate the orange rind for the Orange cake she is baking.

Without communication, both will fail to meet each other’s grated for the Orange cake and squeezed for the juice.

Simply asking to gain an understanding of the other’s need would provide a solution.
